Impact of New Statewide Revenue

In June 2007, the Commonwealth Transportation Board adopted the FY 2008-2013 Six-Year Improvement Program which outlines the planned funding allocations to rail, public transportation, and highway capacity projects around the Commonwealth. The revenue impact of HB 3202 for the six years of the Program is $2.8 billion. Another $500 million in general funds were appropriated to various transportation programs and projects around the Commonwealth. As a result, 206 interstate and primary projects will be in construction during the next six years, compared to 48 expected a year ago. This represents a more than 200 percent increase.
